Brainstorm for Writing Chapter 2
Half beat = 2. Nobody’s Perfect: MC1 is hesitant to embark on the adventure because of their weaknesses and fears. The refusal can be resolved through encouragement or realizing what they are missing. The first meeting between the main characters should be memorable and at least one of them should explain (internally or externally) why they will not fall in love with the other.
Full beat = 3. Meet the Mentor/Adhesion: MC1’s first encounter with a mentor or teacher (mystical or not). MC1 gets needed advice, giving the audience an idea of the obstacles and dangers ahead. Something happens to keep MC1 and MC2 close to each other for the duration of the story. Reiterate here why this relationship will not work.
- Fireflies breaking out of jars = Lulia has magic powers/connection with bugs/flying creatures/nature?
- Lulia gets the job at the tavern, the bartender flirts with her/gives her a few drinks. She goes up to his place and they bone. She thought that a one night stand would make her feel better, but she only came and still loves Joppy so is kinda sad about it.
- does the child gang that robbed Lulia come back later in the story?
- does Lulia meet Cannon before or after she fucks the bartender? Does Cannon see her coming out of the bartenders place after the fucking and is like, “Oh, I guess she’s fucking the bartender, obviously, I am not going to have a romantic relationship with her.”
- the Lulia/Cannon meeting should be “memorable”. Meet-cute?
- bartender is “mentor” character? Is magical?
- warns her that the town is not what it seems to be, there are dangers here, etc.
- Cannon has magical music powers/charismatic powers?
- Cannon’s instrument is full on harp?
- Cannon and bartender live together as roommates above the tavern?
- Surly old man also lives at the tavern? Cleaner/cooker? Is Mentor or just pure comedy?
- something magical happens? When Lulia is fucking the bartender something happens? Bugs are dancing and happy for her or something??? Fireflies appear??
