Brainstorm for writing Chapter 6 summary:
Beats to cover this chapter:
Half Beat (2nd half) - 8. What’s That?: In this part of the story, the hero encounters physical temptations that challenge their focus on the quest. They need to resist these temptations to earn a bigger reward later on, and they'll face a few until they figure it out. After a strong connection, the love interests start to feel uncertain and let their fears creep back in, which complicates things for them.
Full Beat - 9. It Was Me All Along: MC1 must face something dark or threatening — this could be an external force or an internal struggle with their own darker impulses. It’s all about confronting fears and insecurities; only by facing these challenges can the hero truly progress. Things get rocky for your main characters with misunderstandings keeping them apart, which is a prime opportunity to dig into their insecurities and show how they can eventually overcome these hurdles to find love. Exploit the reasons they had for not falling in love in beats 2 and 3 here.
- The Space Cowboy lends his powers to/through Lulia to keep Cannon alive. Lulia passes out and when she comes to, she is in some infirmary with Cannon (he’s alive, but comatose, maybe???). They are in some safe space (the Moon Boat???). Cannon is out of the picture for a while (so Lulia can get closer to The Space Cowboy). She meets with the Space Cowboy and he tells her of her powers and encourages her to control her glow as it is how she is being tracked by the remainder of Joppy’s kin (and himself???).
- AND/OR - the artifact she demands becomes a new quest for them, to save Cannon’s life once and for all.
- The Space Cowboy teases Lulia (sexually?) as a way to train her to control her glow. Cannon walks in and is horrified to see the sexual tension/teasing happening? Lulia tries to tell him that it’s just training, but he is so mad. He is frustrated by his arm being damaged/gone because he is a bard, a lute guy and a one armed lute guy is not a thing so his life is changed forever and he is scared?
- The Space Cowboy tells Lulia how powerful she is/can be and says to marry him. Maybe he was going to marry someone else, but he didn’t think he would meet someone as powerful and perfect as Lulia. So the other woman would now hate Lulia. This uses Lulia’s need for independence and takes it to another level where she begins to become arrogant, selfish, etc. The marriage offer is a trap of some kind, by pumping her up, but then chaining her to The Space Cowboy’s plan/life???
